چکیده
Abstract The calibration data of a five-hole probe and six-hole designed for measurements in transonic turbomachinery flows are presented. probes feature special base pressure hole on the back side to avoid Mach number insensitivity near unity. There is only little literature available performance such probes, especially with large radial flow angles. To close this gap, calibrated angles up 32 $$^\circ$$ ∘ . A significant influence angle coefficients used determination shown. At positive angles, relationship between coefficient using not biunique probe. Therefore, an experimental study measurement deviations performed at wind tunnel. Different evaluation methods examined. sample standard deviation over 210 randomly distributed points reduced by 66% compared same design without hole. This achieved two simultaneously multidimensional interpolation.

Fluid/structure Coupled Aeroelastic Computations for Transonic Flows in Turbomachinery
The present study demonstrates the capabilities of a fluid/structure coupled computational approach which consists of an unsteady three-dimensional Navier-Stokes flow solver, TFLO, and a finite element structural analysis package, MSC/NASTRAN. The parallelized flow solver relies on a multiblock cell-centered finite volume discretization and the dual time stepping time integration scheme with mu...
متن کاملAdaptation of Structured Grid for Supersonic and Transonic Flows
Two distinct redistribution grids - adaptation techniques, spring analogy and elliptic grid generator are applied to two-dimensional steady, inviscid, shocked flows, and the ability of each technique is examined and compared. Euler equations are solved base on Roe's Reimann solver approach to simulate supersonic flow around a sphere, transonic flow about an airfoil and supersonic flow in a symm...

A constraint exists for intrusive probes in transonic flow which leads to a complete insensitivity to static pressure at Mach number Ma=1. Nearby Mach number unity different types of probes are affected more or less by the reduced sensitivity to static pressure or Mach number. In this paper three types of probes are compared and it is shown that the reduced sensitivity near Ma=1 causes large er...
متن کاملApplication of a Particle Image Velocimetry System to the Investigation of Unsteady Transonic Flows in Turbomachinery
In the present paper a study of the time dependent transonic flow field around a single compressor blade in a Laval nozzle is presented. For the investigation the PIV method has been employed because of its ability to deliver instantaneous flow field information across an illuminated plane with high spatial and temporal resolution. From these instantaneous PIV measurements the mean velocity fie...
متن کاملMultiblock Structured Mesh Generation for Turbomachinery Flows
Multiblock structured meshes offer better computational efficiency than the unstructured meshes which, on the other hand, are more flexible for complex geometries. The multiblock structured meshing could be more useful if the partitioning of the domain can be performed automatically. In this paper, we consider various automated blocking approaches for some turbomachinery zones. We then assess t...
